Air Swell Review

This review stems out my recent fascination with Xaphoon Jones and anything he touches. His production and beats are astonishing. The music is constructed with a blend of samples and heavy and fast electronic drum mixes. But the Air Swell Mixtape has given me a newfound appreciation for the other half of Chiddy Bang, Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege.

Just this past week they released the Air Swell Mixtape. It’s comprised of 7 new tracks, with a very British feeling to them. Xaphoon admitted that these songs were put together around their recent trip across the pond to promote their album. He also said to expect a full-length label release in late August.
The first track, Under the Sheets had been released last month and leads this mix-tape off with a bang. It is still one of my favorite songs of the year. But the track to check out is Breakfast, which features British sensation Kate Nash. The beat on this track is so complex and has several different levels, and yet Xaphoon still uses basic turn table tricks to get even more out of his multipart beats. Take note of the fade out going on during Chiddy’s verses. It’s the subtle things people! Check it out below along with the link to download the mixtape.
