B.o.B. - The Adventures of Bobby Ray

It's official the long anticipated album from B.o.B. has finally dropped. I picked up my copy on Itunes and it has been in constant rotation both in the car and on the ipod. The Adventures of Bobby Ray was released on Grand Hustle Records and was two long years in the making. This debut album guest stars some of the biggest names in music and has been seen as a relaunch for Eminem with his verse on the Airplanes II Remix; T.I. on the beat-pounding Bet I and Rivers Cuomo on the sing-a-long friendly Magic.

This album is definitely worth the price of admission and brings back the idea of a consistent and solid CD, opposed to 2 or 3 singles surrounded by intro's and skit's. B.o.B. does a lot of his own production and plays the guitar on most of the record. The first single Nothing On You features Bruno Mars on the chorus and has brought a lot of attention to this album so cop this and tell your friends about it.

I've done a full album review and you can check that out by clicking on link provided below. I've also posted the first single for you to check out. Hope you enjoy it, this kid is gonna be HUGE.

When You Close A Window... Two Doors Open

Now that most of your minds are clear from the stresses of school, its time to focus on music and the amazing new artists that are blowing up. Two Door Cinema Club is an indie/pop group from Northern Ireland and have quickly become one of my favorite new bands. Earlier this year they released their major label debut Tourist History. For a three piece band they pump out quite the sound. The album is definitely worth checking out, but that album is not what this post is about.

Being as I am not the only one who has picked up on the potential of this band, a lot of amazing remixes have been popping up featuring a slew of different songs from Tourist History. The first one that got my attention was my favorite song on the album, Undercover Martyn. Passion Pit took this song stretched it out and gave it a epic build up. I won't give too much away but I will admit I've been caught slow fist pumping during the chorus...

The second one I have for you today is a dubstep remix put together by Redlight. I found this one on Hype Machine and am not really sure where it comes from or who put it together. I'll let The Conductor take the hit if we get flack for posting this but whatever. The song is What You Know and has an unreal breakdown after the 3:30 mark.

Mashup of the Week

Bringin it back to where the love of mashups started for me. With the increasing popularity of mashups we need to recognize the pioneers of the genre. So, this weeks mashup comes from Pittsburg's Girl Talk. Known for his wild live shows this artist brings the energy and is the perfect anecdote for getting any party started. Here is the first track off the Feed The Animals LP. Download the album HERE for free or however much you want to pay. And... listen tonight at 2am to CJAM 99.1 FM for your saturday night dose of party tunes!

Air Swell Review

This review stems out my recent fascination with Xaphoon Jones and anything he touches. His production and beats are astonishing. The music is constructed with a blend of samples and heavy and fast electronic drum mixes. But the Air Swell Mixtape has given me a newfound appreciation for the other half of Chiddy Bang, Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege.

Just this past week they released the Air Swell Mixtape. It’s comprised of 7 new tracks, with a very British feeling to them. Xaphoon admitted that these songs were put together around their recent trip across the pond to promote their album. He also said to expect a full-length label release in late August.
The first track, Under the Sheets had been released last month and leads this mix-tape off with a bang. It is still one of my favorite songs of the year. But the track to check out is Breakfast, which features British sensation Kate Nash. The beat on this track is so complex and has several different levels, and yet Xaphoon still uses basic turn table tricks to get even more out of his multipart beats. Take note of the fade out going on during Chiddy’s verses. It’s the subtle things people! Check it out below along with the link to download the mixtape.

Mashup of the Week

Being a huge fan of mashups I am going to bring you one per week seeing as I dont always play them on the show. This week's installment is a really chill remix to the Notorious B.I.G's Juicy vs. The xx's VCR. Wait What produced an entire album mixing Biggie and The xx's tracks. Check out Wait What's website for more videos. He took down the link for download but still worth checking out. Download this track HERE!

-Check out Damn You Mongolians facebook/youtube/mediafire and get on his shit. Solid dubstep and dnb productions from DYM out in the UK. Links below
